Call from Mrs. Dolan-22 Princeton St. re: complaint against Scarborough children not behaving. Would like someone to talk to the mother. Informed Jim Oliver of this.

Call from Mr. Christianson-owner of Mattsons greenhouse re: son and another boy were walking home from the Center and a beer bottle was thrown out of a car, broke and cut his son in the leg. Sent Steve N. in No.1 to investigate.

Call from Mrs. Nortout-Ann St. re: alleged prowler got her son tonight and knocked him out. Ed. Hale to investigate.

Call from State Police in Rutland Vermont re: Robert Emitt Colbert-received teletype from Holden S.P. Wants to know if he is wanted. Called State Police for them while they were on the other line. S.P. said that this person is not a wanted man-is of excellent reputation. S.P. said that he thinks the Vermont S.P. do not know how to read a teletype.

Roger Lindfors in re: alleged gang fight tonight.

Mrs. Eastman and son in. Son works at Food Fair. Bill DiPerrio and Mike Rennie have jumped him tow nights in a row coming from work and smeared something on his car. Jumped in car also.

Investigated complaint of Clark Sundin, Jr. re: Silvester Nowak-138 King Philip Rd.-Worcester. (80 years old). Land dispute in area of Laurel Hill Lane. Mr. Novak is upsetting the neighborhood. Will talk to him or his son Eugene. PL3-9114.

Radio call from HQ_Welsh. To investigate drunks at 318A Holden St. Arrested same and locked up at Waldo St. Station.

Call from Russell Swanson-Malden St. re: wants to complain about a grey Dodge coupe that parks almost every night on Malden St. Just sits in car-one man alone. Would like to have it looked into as all the neighbors are concerned about same. Reg. #922-039.
5.17 p.m.
Bill Ludovico and Jim Erickson (about 10 and 12 years old) in to report teen agers at Jr. high School are gambling. Will have car #1 check as soon as he finished with accident. Reg. of cars ther are: 993-198 and R63-803.
7.30 p.m.
Fred Gaboury-Putnam Rd. in re: Bill DiPerrio and Mike Rennie bullying his kids and damaging the bike. Tom Hardy related that he saw DiPerrio break screen out of bath house.

Eleanor Moran-Ureka St.-Worc. in re: a man followed her from Worc. to Holden this morning. Attempted to stop her. She did not get reg. #. She drove into HPD parking lot. Man saw police sign and took off swearing at her.

Call from Ed Lemay re: son Ricky believed to have run off to N.H. with Hatstat girl from Worc. J. Riordan to check with Childs girl-Princeton St.
4.15 p.m.
Call from Holden Hospital re: patient just walked out of the hospital. Was seen going down hospital hill. Age-about 40 yrs. old- dark hair-about 5ft. 3in. tall. May be wearing red slippers and a blue dress. Would like her picked up and returned to the hospital. Picked up by Riordan Ok.
8.10 p.m.
Call from Mr. Skillings re: when he and George Mara were locking gate at Dawson Pool they heard a cry for help from Dawson Pond. They looked around and did not see anything or hear anything else so went home. Thinks maybe we should know about it. Informed Car #1 of this incident.

Call from Mr. Clark-Manning St. re: wants to make a complaint against Matis Pig Farm-Manning St. He said that they are using it for a rifle range. Steward Goodhile-Lyman-Sam Matis are the ones shooting. Informed Steve of the complaint.

Bill DiPerrio and Mike Rennie in at my request for verbal blast regarding bullying and Malicious Mischief and general nuisance complaints. Agreed to change their ways.

9 calls regarding vandalism in the Shrewsbury Street area. Gave Steve vandalism reports to investigate along with McCauley.
4.20 p.m.
Call from caller who would not give his name re: police dept. is no good as they have not been investigating all the vandalism in Shrewsbury St. are. Have not seen a cop all day. Man just came to his house with a petition to sign to get rid of the Chief of Police as he is no darned good and dies not know how to run a police department. Said he did not sign this petition as he did not want to become involved. I could not get a word in edgewise but when I did I told him that the first vandalism report came in at 7:00 am and that we had a man out at 7:30 am investigating and that now there were two officers working on it. Informed Jim Oliver of this complaint. He contacted D. McCauley and Steve Nowak and they have been working on this all afternoon and had been to the home of all the people who had reported any damage to us. Caller also said that the mailman had told people down in that area that he had not seen any officers investigating and that he did not thing the police were doing anything about it. A lot of mailboxes were damaged. Caller said that 40 people signed the petition. Only ten people have reported damage to us.

Call from Registry of Motor Vehicles re: be on the lookout for an orange dump truck bearing Reg. #S143. This number has not been issued so it is an unregistered truck. It looks like a State truck but is not. Truck is tearing political posters down all over the state. State is anxious to apprehend this truck. Informed Jim Oliver and Novak when he wnet on duty.

Call from Edith Hale re: found something on her lawn which has upset her. Would like to have Steve stop at her house as soon as possible. Informed Steve of this.
 
Thursday, September 10th, 1964
12.50 p.m.
Call from State Police re: message from Sec. of State Kevin White re: notify Town Clerk to tally votes for Thomas Buckley even though he died yesterday. Informed Jim Oliver who will tell Leo Harrington.
1.00 p.m.
Out with Novak on Molotov Cocktail. Went to Regional High School and spoke with Rodney Orsted - Homestead Rd. He readily admitted making-carrying and depositing said cocktail. Also questioned was Gregory Perry-Chaffins Lane. He was out with Orsted but had nothing to do with the cocktail. They were looking for an alleged "rumble". Spoke with Mr. William Rourke-1st Asst. Clerk of Central District Court. He advised us to see Juvenile Clerk of Central District Court. He advised us to see Juvenile Probation Officer. He suggested we allow boys parents to handle this matter. If we are not satisfied with parents attitude return to Court House and complaints will be issued. We proceeded to Orsted home and spoke with both of Rodneys parents. They agreed to handle Rodney to our satisfaction. In the meantime the case will remain open in case of unsatisfactory compliance.
   
Friday, September 11th, 1964
1.15 a.m.
Call from woman to have cruiser go up to the Eagle Lake House as there is a lot of music and hollering outside and it has been going on for an hour. Sent Jim Oliver. Found the establishment to be closed. No one at scene except for the owner-Pat Hester and a waitress. Pat disclosed that an entertainer at the bar was talked into playing one more number in the parking lot, on the bagpipes, after closing, by some of the customers.
1.25 a.m.
Call from Brentwood Dr. re: teen agers in beight colored 1964 Sting Ray are driving all over the lawns down there. Almost hit the house at 17 Brentwood Dr. Sent Jim Oliver. Found a car fitting this description at the Davey residence-19 Brentwood Dr. Found this car to be hot from recent operation. Wheels wet and treads filled with dirt and sand from roadway. Spoke with Lance Davey and his mother. Both stated that Lance had been in for a while but after being confronted with certain evidence admitted that perhaps it had only been 15 or 20 minutes. However, Lance denied the damage.

Call from Mr. Johnson-Homestead Rd. re: wants something done about the train making so much noise in the morning over at Holden Farmers Supply. I told him that we could not stop the train from going. He said that he will get up a petition and have people sign it and he will talk with the Town Manager.
   
Saturday, September 12th, 1964
8.00 a.m.
Jim Oliver at the station so i can go to the cottage and meet the movers for piano.
10.55 a.m.
Call from anonymous caller re: political signs on property at Chaffins. Called Jim and they are alright because those people have permits to have them on their property.
1.10 p.m.
Call from Dorcas McCracken re: whether or not we have a Town Ambulance. Told her that the cruiser was only used in case of an emergency or upon request of a doctor when no other ambulance could be secured.
   
Sunday, September 13th, 1964
5.30 a.m.
Call from Mrs. Packard-134 Brattle St. re: her neighbor Mrs. Demers called her and told her someone was trying to break in her back door at 1 Talbot St. Called Jim Oliver and he will go right away and told me to call Roger Lindfors also. Found no one or no sign. Mrs. Demers heard noises outside for over an hour before she called. Also heard something hit screen. Made general search of area.

Call from Bateman-N. main St. re: one of Griffs cows are out in the street. Sent McCauley in No. 1.
8.45 p.m.
Call from Elmer Blum re: apparent Drunken driver hit Harry Lingas fence on So. Main St. Three girls got out and started walking. Driver took off towards Word. Car #1 to investigate-McCauley.
 
Monday, September 14th, 1964
10.50 a.m.
Call from 178 Brattle St. home of Holley re: woman thinks a man has died. Called Jim Oliver who went right down. Investigated with Elmer R. Pettis. Found James J. Holley-age 78 years-dead on bathroom floor. Janet called Dr. Mayo and he said he would not bother to come as long as the man was dead and medical examiner was going to investigate. Called Cataldo. He said it was alright to have the Athy Funeral Directors remove body as long as it appeared to be a death from Natural causes. Mrs. Harold Martin a sister-in-law of deceased mans wife was in charge of residence. She had been caring for deceased and his wife for the last month. Mr. Holley's wife died yesterday.
6.30 p.m.
Call from Everett Maynard re: State Police posting his orchard. This is something they have done voluntarily since fir trees were stolen last year. No offence meant to us and he wants us to continue to check his property.
8.00 p.m.
Call from Sgt. Ray Elg-MSP re: missing persons-2 elderly females-from Wayside Nursing Home-751 Grove St.-Worc. Please have our men check So. Main St. area.
8.05 p.m.
Call from Sgt. Elg again re: one person found. Other woman still missing-5 ft 4 in. tall-heafvy build-speaks French. Notified Car 1.
   
Wednesday, September 16th, 1964
9.35 a.m.
Call re: B&E&L at Balcony Shop, had James Oliver assist on same. The Balcony Inc. 1115 Main St. owner, Mrs. Josephine "Jodie" Smith, of Wyndhurst Drive Holden. She is a sister of George Sessions the Undertaker. Her Manager, who discovered the break at 9.25 a.m. is Mrs. Phyllis Smith of Princeton. Thye made up a list of the dresses stolen and it amounted to almost $5000.00. Sessions is a very good frirend of Mr. Steele of the Telegram, who in turn had Mr. Hilding Peterson, Ext. 425 call me and ask me to also call in the State Police which I did. I got Sgt Foley the photographer on fingerprints who found one on the door to the cellar. I got a list of all the missing merchandise and they put the whole thing on the teletype. They had a similar break in W. Boylston about ten days ago. I also took pictures.

Called Leo Harrington re: political signs that have been approved. McCauley has erected ok the following: CONTI Holden St. by Christos Market, Swensons, corner of Holden St. and Shrewsbury St. Bonzacks on Doyle Road, Brattle St. ellis's Market, Jarvis Store, Walter Cole, Shrewsbury St. by Parker Ave. Main St. by Alpha Road, Craigs on Anderson Ave., Guimonds on Montana Drive, Provosts on Main by Grove Cemetery, Bill Derry's on Salisbury St., Frank Russell is Republican Chairman but has not requested any as yet.
6.30 p.m.
Mrs. Sevice (sewing lady) of Chapel St. who owns a small dog is disturbed over the children enticing her dog away from its yard. Told her to call the parents of the children.

Joseph Harrington calls re: sign at the Holden-Worcester line that says "Please strengthen our Board of Health". I removed same.

Fire alarm. Stonehouse Hill farm is burning again.

Mr. Vernon Frost of 212 Doyle Rd. calls in re: his anticipation of a drag race in the area, between the Wor. line and the corner of Shrewsbury St.

Nick Malooley calls re: his having a new blinker yellow light destroyed on Malden St. and he had just seen walking along by the old dump area young Rod Hunts boy and Asplund. $75.00 value.

Mrs. Kenneth Sperl, 282 Holden St. calls re: larceny of womens clothing off of her clothesline.

Mrs. Matzko, of 129 Holden St. calls in re: larceny last night of 6 pair of womens panties, 5 pr. white, 1 pr. green.
3.05 p.m.
Chief Oatley, PL 5-1104, calls re: locating one Donald Kalgren of Paxton who has a 1962 Cream Color Rambler, and is a Skeet Shoot in Holden. Wants to talk to him at once as his wife has definitely gone mental. Sent McCauley out to Mason Rd.

Sam Matis' daughter calls for a permit to move some furniture on Sunday. O.K.
 
Monday, September 21st, 1964
8.10 a.m.
Joe Harrington calls re: a dance being held last night at the Fairbrook Country Club. I called Hinckley. It is not allowed unless a permit is granted from the Selectmen and the Dept. of Public Safety. I called Joe back re: same and Board will send a letter of warning.
2.15 p.m.
Paul Hinckley calls re: dancing at Fairbrook on Sundays. Should be allowed only at weddings or in connection with an entertainment act, and then only after permit has been granted.
2.25 p.m.
Jeff. Mill Supt. of Maintenance calls that his night watchman Stanley Jacowich on Sat. night at about 9 p.m. was attacked by a collie dog and his pants were ripped. Told the Supt. to have him contact me.

Jas. Oliver on patrol. I called Sgt. Elb. to have Pat Dadeo contact me on return from his day off Thur. morning. Jas. O heard about garbage man in Sterling having chance to buy a dress.

Mrs. Dodge of 16 Somerset Lane complains re: larceny of pumpkins out of her garden. Suspects Curtis and Burke children.
   
Friday, September 25th, 1964
5.45 p.m.
Ralph McCracken of Kings Market calls re: his manager catching Mrs. Filgerleski stealing meat. He stopped her outside the store as she was going to her car operating by her daughter. Mrs. F. is 72 years old. We had the daughter come in to the store and the mother signed a statement as to the larceny. She wanted to pay for same after she was caught. Three pieces of steak were in her handbag, another was down the front of her dress, inside and also concealed was a package of cold meat. Total a little over $5.00. He is going to prosecute the first time that he catches a younger person, as he is fed up with his losses.
7 p.m.
Chief Kettel of Barre calls re: locating one Frederick Carr who has a Nash Rambler, 1957 model F15227 and he formerly lived in Lunenburg and is cashing bad checks. He is sometimes accompanied by one Fred Hicks. They are drawn on the First National Bank of Winchendon. Is going to get a warrant.
   
Sunday, September 27th, 1964
1.30 a.m.
Mrs. Hanson who lives above the Websters, next ot the Miles Funteral Home complains re: the tenants downstairs still playing music, and she can not sleep. The parents are away and the kids have a party going on in full swing. I called No.1 and they checked but no excessive noise outside the building. He spoke to the kids and they shut off the music and said that they would cease activities at once.

J. Riordan on patrol in place of McCauley who has a furnace to replace.

Joyce Santimaw, Parker Ave. 7533658 calls re: stray dog is being harbored by Mr.&Mrs. Leo Bachant, 6 Parker Ave., red house, tel 754-4512, black and white English Setter. is a nuisance.

Mr. Johnson of Wachusett St. calls in re: his mailbox being blown up on Thursday night about 12.45 a.m.
1.05 p.m.
Trooper Wes Boutelle of State Police in re: the Balcony Break. he was talking to Ralph Doyle of the Wor. P.D. who is of the opinion that this break was committed by David Cuddy, big fat chap, son of Deer Lodge owner in Leicester. Also one Frank J. Zararo (armed robbery) on probation form 63 to 66. Malso, Michael Petron, Zamorrow "the barber" who has a station wagon. Boutelle is to get me pictures of all three men.

Gordon Creamer in re: recent fire. I now wonder about the Bissonnette boy who is not too intelligent. Next fire in that area, I will go to the home of Bissonette and locate suspect at once. Gordon also told me about Leslie Albrecht telling him about one Donald Bailey of the W.R.H. throwing a lighted book of matches into a group up at the school on Sept. 23rd.
